I read a book once – once. OK maybe two or three books at some point.
One book that I read was Fortunes, Fiddles, and Fried Chicken: A Business History of Nashville.
It was a very interesting read.
There are plenty of things about Nashville in there that I didn’t know about. There are plenty of interesting businesses that had their origins based in middle Tennessee in there as well.
Music is one business. But everyone knew that, right?
Sure, you know Nashville is a town based around music.
It’s Music City USA.
It’s the Grand Ole Opry.
It’s the Ryman Auditorium — a.k.a. the mother church of Country music.
It’s the home of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
We all know that. But Candace knows the Nashville that nobody knows.
The Nashville Nobody Knows
Candace Corrigan is the host and producer of this weekly, half hour radio/podcast show that is well worth the free download and listen.
Candace delivers the show with an NPR flavor and professionalism.
Her soothing voice and unique interview style makes this site a must for those who realize that Nashville is more than Country music, more than Tim and Faith. It’s our neighbors who play in studios, cut demos, and put their poetry to tunes.
Have a listen. I bet you’ll listen to at least 2 shows.
Ah well, there’s another hour gone wandering the Internet. Thanks Candace, for the best hour I’ve “wasted”.
