I read the following in the August 2007 issue of Franklin Life:
"The City of Franklin offered up a more than 400-acre parcel at the far end of the county on the corner of Garrison and Bending Chestnut roads.
The county has intentions to turn the acreage into a public park. Williamson County Mary Rogers Anderson relays that the park would be a passive park with walking and hiking trails and possibly camping areas. There are also talks of working with the state environmental council to create a fishing pond from some of the streams and springs.
Doug Hood, the county parks and recreation director will be conducting a series of public meetings to gather input from the community in developing the park."
The article also quotes Franklin Mayor, Tom Miller as saying, "We will be working with the Convention and Visitors Bureau to create a visitors' center in the post office building [on Main Street]. We expect that the Heritage Foundation will remain in that building as well."
