MainStreetBrewFest.jpgEvery year around St. Patrick’s Day, the shops on Main Street in downtown Franklin, TN become tasting sites for the adults lucky enough to participate in the Franklin Main Street Brew Fest.

Over 40 different beers and Irish whiskey are available for participants to sample from around 20 different vendors.

The festival is put on by the Heritage Foundation of Franklin and Williamson County.

At Brew Fest you pay one fee to receive a special beer glass that gives you access to the beers as you walk down Main Street.

To give you an idea of how popular this event is, for the 2010 event, the available 1,500 tickets were all sold before the Brew Fest even began! Because they sell out so quickly, be sure to order tickets online as soon as they go on sale.

If you aren’t a beer drinker (like me), you can still have a lot of fun at the Franklin Main Street Brew Fest.

While you don’t have to be a beer drinker to enjoy the Brew Fest, you do have to appreciate Irish culture.

The event always takes place around St. Patrick’s Day and is themed to compliment the holiday.

Other Things To Do At Brew Fest

  • Sample Irish foods such as Irish stew, roasted corn and potatoes, kettle corn, and fish and chips.  All of the food vendors are usually off of Main Street, just down 4th Avenue.
  • Enjoy Irish music and dancing.
  • Browse Main Street shops after normal business hours.  If you’re usually at work when the stores are open, this is a perfect time to come downtown and shop!
  • Eat at one of Main Street’s fine restaurants, like McCreary’s Irish Pub and Eatery and finish dinner with a walk down Main Street, free of motor traffic.

The Franklin Main Street Brew Fest is more than just a festival, it also raises money for the Downtown Franklin Association — which, in turn, uses the money to revitalize the downtown area.  As you may already know, Downtown Franklin, Tennessee is a beautiful place to be and it’s a historic district.  Raising money for it means that residents and visitors alike will be able to enjoy for years to come.

Whether you go for the food, the brews, or the music, the Franklin Main Street Brew Fest is a great way to spend the evening and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!

If you made it to this year’s event, please let me know what you thought of it!  I had a great time and can’t wait til next year’s event.
