UPDATE:  Wondering when auditions for 2009 will be announced?...

According to Mistie Warren in a comment left here at The Fun Times Guide to Franklin and on the NBC forums, Nashville Star has been cancelled for 2009.

If it's true, that is unfortunate news, and I will link to the official press release here -- if and when it becomes available.

Anyone have any updates?

P.S. Sandra Valentine provided this update on 1/21/09. It references another email from Mr. Naylor at NBC regarding Nashville Star airing on NBC in 2009.

UPDATE: John Rich's take on Nashville Star on NBC...

I wouldn't touch ‘Nashville Star’ with a 40-foot pole," he told The Tennessean. "NBC completely bastardized what country music is about. I thought this was really going to represent country music, put us on a new level. Now, I will tell you, two artists ... you will hear from are Melissa Lawson and Gabe Garcia. Those two acts were the saving graces of that show."  Source

Rich says once NBC began airing the singing competition, they insisted on infusing the show with pop music. "We've got a guy named Kenny Chesney who's 40 years old, who's an east Tennessee hillbilly who sells 80,000 tickets a show," Rich said. "We don't need the other people's music to make us cool enough to listen to."  Source

my mom said i cant eat chili any more since u cancled the show

i have been checking into nashville star for a while now and i cant get any information on up coming shows. is there anyone we could possibly get in touch with to find out? or are we going to have to go to american idol and face simond cowel because thats going to be my last hope. i love country music, its just me so i thought this was the way to go but im not having much luck on here. I have written alot of songs and would really love to go on with my dream. Please post something soon!

Laura VH

I am very sorry to hear that Nashville Star has been cancled. I watched it every week. I love to hear Billy Rae Cyrus sing but I don't think he did a very good job. I would like to see all the past winners come back to be part of a future show and let everyone know how and what they are doing.

cristen slaughter

i wish they did not cancell the show because i was going to tryout this year....... i want to be a country singer and the best way is to go up infront of judges to see if i have potiental or if i am good or bad i need to know from professionals i have been told i was awesome and i have a beautiful voice but i need someone that has been in the buissness to tell me that

lonnie

she is performing up here in nothern mn and nd this summer don't know any more will see her on july 11 up here in north dakota

Linsey

I was so disappointed when I found out they were cancelling the show. I had finally gotten up enough nerve to tryout this year (MY LUCK). Because of my disappointment I decided to try for American Idol & was told I was amazing ( they just werent looking for the country genre this year ) If for some reason anyone hears they ARE going to have tryouts and start the show back up would they please be kind enough to pass on the info. It is ashame they are missing out on great talent because they decided to cancel the show. Thank you all!

Brittany

When are the auditions??? Where at??? What time??? I want to audition!!!

Chad

When is the auditions? I wanna know!

Courtney

Nashville Star is awesome! Shows true personality of the singers. You get to know them as a person, and watch them strive for their dreams. I really hope this is not the end.

HARRY

They mess up my favorite show by putting it on NBC with that hack Billy Ray Cyrus and his creepy daughter? Then they remove it altogether? Someone is dropping the ball at TBS or CMT. The show is way to popular to not be on somewhere.

autumn jarrell

why haven't they put up auditions yet...i am so excited cause i am very confident about trying out.

Terry

They take Nashville Star off and leave American Idol--that is all riged and you know who the winner is ,on this show your vote (IDOL)really does not count for the one you want to win,,at lest with Nashville star it is real counrty try outs--thats ashame for Nashville Star they were relly good--WE ALL WILL MISS IT--------------------HOPE IT COMES BACK SOON

Troy Griffith

Hey check this out. This record label is having and online competition www.mywiredrecords.com if you chosen you get a 3 yr record deal and all expenses paid...

Brian

That's brutal if it is indeed done. I though the show was pretty damn good. Does anyone know if Ashley Hewitt is doing anything ... and how the hell did Coffey stay longer than her?

B-rad

I'm so sick of KARAOKE IDOL!!!

it's sad to think Nashville Star may not return...

I bet USA or CMT will pick it up...

Sandra Valentine

ABSOLUTELY!!! I AGREE!!!!

Carl Showers

I agree with John Rich. NBC royally screwed up the show by adding pop music. But John, "Gone Country", please. This is not the way to go for entertainment. I would love to see a show with "raw amateur" country talent guided by top country stars of today and yesterday, not pop artists. "Gone Country"? Put them up against us amateur country singers as competition. I would compete against them for a chance at country music stardom, and feel I would give those wannabees a run for the money. Come on John Rich take me up on this. Country amatuers against pop/rock pros in a counrty music showdown, bring it on.

jason

i am a big fan of nashville star.gabe garcia, chris young and jason meadows were some of the best on the show. as for what john rich said about not touching nash star with a 40ft pole hes right about nbc wanting more pop for the show, but this is coming from a man who has a show about pop/rock singers doing country music.come on,Dee Snider and Bobby Brown, etc have no place in country music.john rich himself is not country so for him to complain about too much pop in country is obsurd.thank God we in Texas have what we call "Texas Music",now these folks know what country is really all about.

Dawn

What the ???? Not everyone likes American Idol. I really enjoy Country Music. Why don't you ever hear from the winners - like Chirs Young he is awesome. Bring back NASHVILLE STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved Nashville Star..I watched every single show every single season. (As I do American Idol..however I liked Nashville Star better because I am a COUNTRY fan.) Please bring this show back. It sure as hell beats other shows ...for instance..Hell's Kitchen. Please please please bring it back.

Tina Combs

I think it is a real shame that Nashville Star has not been renewed. This show provided the world full of music lovers a look at raw talent being molded. It also gave the wonderful people with a God given talent to entertain something to hope for, a real chance. Not everyone with these God give talents have the funds to get their music career off the ground and this show provided them a shot, a way to let their talent do the talking. Please bring this show back to us. I have a very good friend that is one of these people with a dream and he has the capability to write his own music and a voice straight from heaven.

Troy Griffith

Rhonda O'Brien and Family

The news of Nashville Star being cancelled is very upsetting. Our family enjoys spending time watching this series as a family. Everyone I have told this news too is also very upset. Please try to do what you can to get it back....
Rhonda

Monica

Now I am wondering if I seen audition dates for 08 and not 09 ??? You can not find info for Nashville Star very easy...looks like they would simplify things.....

Monica

The dates are up and are also now over. The last audition was the 21st of Feb in Tallahassee Fl. I am looking for the FINAL casting that takes place in Nashville usually at the Opry Land resort. Any one know the dates on this?

Should be in March I would think.

Randy

God i hope its not gone forever!!! i finally decided that i wanted to audition this year...i wanted to do Johnny Cash's: Ring of Fire. but sing in my own way. in a little more of a somber tone. i LOVE Nashville Star!!!

Amy Rudd

I am also looking for the audition dates for the 2009 season of nashville star. Could someone let me know if they get any additional information regarding this. I will do the same as I am off to Nashville this weekend to talk to a contact or two regarding this matter! Good luck to all!!!

Dawn

For those of you who are wanting or thinking about sending your music to a producer, or anyone for that matter....please make you sure you have it copywrited or documented with your name and date. Last thing you want is for someone to steal your song or any of your lyrics.

felicia strange

I'm BUMMED! I really wanted to audition this year. I audtioned for American Idol, the process was crazy. I was told I had great 'chops' but that my body wasn't camera ready. I had just had a baby FOUR WEEKS BEFORE I TRIED OUT! Jeez! But anyway, I'm really into country music, wanted to audition for Nashville Star. I guess I'll just have to start shopping my demo's.

KWilk

Sandra Valentine

God Bless you as well!!!

PS Everyone needs to watch for scammers in this process.

Linsey

GREAT... finally some good news! At least they are still thinking about things, sometimes no news is good news. Here is my take and the whole situation, I have worried and worried about this situation and finally decided to turn it all over to my FATHER. I prayed and completely trust that he has my best interest in mind, this is something I have along with everyone else has wanted for a long time, but maybe there is something there we are not seeing. Maybe he has other BETTER plans for us. I would like to encourage everyone if THIS Nashville Star- doesnt work out, dont hang your hand... Look up and he will give you your answer!
GOD BLESS
PS: Continue to keep me posted!
Linsey

Mistie Warren

WOW! Lets keep both fingers crossed!

Sandra Valentine

I talked to Rick Lawson, Melissa Lawson's (Season 6 winner) husband. She actually was compassionate enough to call the producers of the show and he said "It looks like its still 50/50 on whether or not it will happen. The show is being shopped to different networks and would be produced by a different production company if it happens. No auditions have been announced or even scheduled. If I'm you, I would keep an occasional eye on www.NashvilleStar.com."

THANKS AGAIN RICK AND MELISSA!!!!! YOU'RE THE ONLY ONES KIND ENOUGH TO HELP US OUT!!!

GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY

Sheila Hott

Does anyone have an update on Nashville Star...I've been singing country music with a band in the local area for 14years now..And when I finally decide to take the plunge and audition for my one shot, All I keep hearing is there is no show to audition for..Anyone with any info, please let me know.

melindatapp

still no word?

Sandra Valentine

Absolutely! A great team will get you where you want to be... in the spotlight. But I must say that any person who truly wants to shine will sit back and do what they are told until they get that chance to be set free. I don't think that there is one contestant (or hopeful contestant) that would turn down the opportunity to get to where they want to be just because they don't get to "call the shots". After all, if they did get to call the shots from the very beginning, they wouldn't be in the spotlight anyway because the producers would have never even let them on stage. If you truly want to be a star, be prepared to be a follower. Sit back, relax and enjoy being a country superstar. *sigh*

If only..........

melt

yeah i guess....it is not easy...but i think from the start the winners dont get to sit in the driver seat..i mean they are under contract...and the ones that dont win, well the get to sign on with who they want (if they have choices)and have a voice..thats the only down fall that i see being the winner..you have to sit and let others make the calls...its kinda bitter sweet i think...but ur right a good team can take you far....

Brannon Owens

short form?? cancelled?? los angeles?? sounds to me like no one has a firm idea...anybody that does, let me know.

Mistie Warren

Melt, I have to agree on some areas! The manager is responsable for the booking big shows for that artist perhaps opening for a Head Liner but you have to be good, and the Publist's job is to get interviews, cover of magazines, get televised recongition, pick up advertising for example: Hersheys, like Carrie Underwood did, and keep that artist in the public's eye every wakeing moment. The minute that artist is gone from the publics eye they are forgotten. Then that means you need to fire your management team! And the artist will have to make a come back with new management and spotlight. You the artist is responsable for how your team opperates, you may not know from day to day how many interviews you have in a day but you should be so busy that your having a hard time staying awake and a few hours to sleep. But I guess it just depends on how hard you wanna work!

melt

what they need to do is get people like rich (who is hosting gone country) to write the winners songs and the winners need to have more air time...they need to put them out there!!! i never saw to much on nashville star winners not like american idol....and stop giving the losers record deals.. the winners should be the only focus..they start handing out record deals to the losers and everyone forgets about the winner....after all this is a contest and there can only be one winner.......

Mistie Warren

I hear ya girl! Just a thought, have you noticed that season one of Nashville Star, there grand prize was 100,000.00 dollars, a record deal and a new truck, and as time has gone on it had started to disapear even more, to just a truck and a record deal, and last year just a record deal. Mabey it was all in front of us. The reason for Nashville Star to be moved to NBC was that Ben Silverman was the creator so to speak in getting the show started, and then he was offered a job at NBC and took the show with him, so I guessing that Ben Silverman is the one that pulled the plug, mabey he wasn't making enough money? Anyway, lets hope but I'm guessing that all hope maybey gone. Im thinking that there will be another show comming in the next season with a new name and a whole new game in choosing the talent, including new judges with a harsher back bone. Mabey a country music record lable will step up and put there own "Randy Jackson" so to speak and a country music artist like Garth,Wynonna,Tanya or Chesnut. Who knows but it dosen't hurt to have a little faith. Mistie

Sandra Valentine

All I can say is keeping sending those prayers out to God. But for now, it looks as if it's a no. Well, that's according to Mr. Naylor anyways.

Michelle

They haven't even given Nashville Star a chance. I think that one season on NBC isn't enough. I guess NBC doesn't understand country music! I know that i watched every week and voted. If things change please let me know. I would love to try out.

melt

wow...does anyone have any info...i am going nuts....

Mistie Warren

Val, Im not sure if I will go and make a demo, Its so hard to get out there. Mabey I'll try for American Idol, or go back to school. Its hard to just trust anyone. But when you get your demo I really want to hear it! It's hard to picture you can you email me a pic? I feel like I know you, but not really!!Mistie

Sandra Valentine

Congratulations Mistie!!!!! You need to make a new demo now! I would like to hear it as well. I am making one this February and I can't wait. It's my first! Let me know when you do! valeriemaye0214@yahoo.com TTYL

Troy Griffith

Its seems like you have so much passion for the music and getting on the show.. I am a producer in Atlanta send me a couple of pics and music to my email troygriffith88@yahoo.com
I have worked with some big names I just happened to come across this sight and your comments. Look forward to hearing from you soon....

Mistie Warren

Troy, Im suprised that you would like to hear my music, why such an interest in mine? Don't get me wrong I would love for you to hear me, but there are so many that want to hurd as well. Although I haven't made a demo since 04, and I haven't really wanted to spend the money for that if I was just going to Nashville Star to be hurd I figured that I wouldn't need one. Mistie

Troy Griffith

Misty I would love to hear your music can you send me some... I am in Atlanta have alot of hookups....

Sandra Valentine

He hasn't written me back regarding my last email that same day. :(

Mistie Warren

MiniSprink, Your right I spent a good hour on that web page looking at all the little details and reading everything on that page, and I did notice that the date was for 2008. Last up date was like Aug or Sept of 08. Ofcourse I would find that out after I got my hopes up. But thank you for pointing that out I realized afterwords as well.Lets hope that there is a another show comming that is simalar. Sandra, have you herd from Peter Naylor? Mistie

MiniSprink

Mistie and Sandra -

If you notice, the webpage you listed has a publishing date of April '08 on that press release. Far be it from me to call the networks untrustworthy, but we can never rely on schedules they put out that early. Heck, they've been known to cancel shows after the first episode airs. It wouldn't be surprising to find out that NBC cancelled Nashville Star after having put it on the schedule for this summer. I would trust your recent e-mails over a press release from 10 months ago.

Sandra Valentine

Thanks Mistie! Keep us posted!

Mistie Warren

Sandra V, This is Mistie, I just went to the website that you had provided and it is on there!! What the heck is going on. You emailed Peter Naylor and he said "the same to you that Nashville Star was cancelled or their not renewing the show." I have no clue what is going on. I scrolled down to thru the long list of what is coming on the summer of 09 and Nashville Star was on there!!! Im flipping out right now because I have no idea what to believe on the matter, The SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF NBC, PETER NAYLOR HAS TOLD US BOTH IN A RECENT EMAIL THAT IT WASN'T GOING TO BE ON!! I'm going to have to email him agian. This is so crazy!! I hope and pray that the show will air agian. Mistie

Sandra Valentine

http://entertainmentnow.wordpress.com/2008/05/14/nbc-development-slateschedule-for-20082009-season/

This webpage is NBC's and it shows the Summer 2009 broadcasting schedule. Nashville star is on there for Sunday's at 9 pm. I don't know what to think now...... Just keep praying guys!!!!!!!

Mistie Warren

I also emailed him earlier today and haven't yet to recieve an email back. I wanted to know if there was going to be another show mabey with a different name. But I guess we'll see. I hope the email address that I gave you for Mr. Naylor was helpful. Mistie

Sandra Valentine

Mr. Naylor emailed me back today and said "I'm sorry but I believe the show has not been renewed." I wrote him back and asked him if it was just NBC or if another channel picked them up. I'm waiting for his answer on that. MAYBE WE SHOULD OVERFLOW HIS INBOX WITH NASHVILLE STAR REQUESTS AND THEY WILL GET THE PICTURE AND BRING IT BACK THIS YEAR!!!

HIS EMAIL IS peter.naylor@nbcuni.com

Mistie Warren

Jennifer Longreen, I pray that Nashville Star has just moved to a different network and not gone forever. I have been preparing for this years event that I had quit working to concentrate on praticing and exercising. I was heart broken when I recieved that email. Mistie

Sandra Valentine

May I see the email Mistie? Thank you! valeriemaye0214@yahoo.com

Sandra Valentine

I hope you're on the right track with helping us uncover what's really happening. We can only hope and pray. I think alot of us were thinking this was out year... to try at least. God Bless Us

Jennifer Longreen

Are you sure Nashville Star is not moving to another network?

Mistie Warren

Jason I have not a rumor for you but the actual email from Peter Naylor NBC Universal's VP, and email address and phone. If you would like to see the email that I recieved from Mr. Nalyor in regaurds to the "Nashville Star show being cancelled" feel free to email me, and I'll send it to you. And goes for anyone else. Thank You. mistie_marie@yahoo.com

RYAN D

I COMPLETELY AGREE...ILL JUST HAVE TO BELIEVE IT WHEN SOMETHING GETS OFFICIALLY POSTED. KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE GUYS, GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY AND GOD BLESS!

Jason Smith

I can't find anything official, so I can't just believe a rumor. If anyone finds or hears anything officially please post a link. Thanks.

Tara

I would love to read that email. I too had planned on auditioning. and if its true that the show was really cancelled..just think about how much money country music altogether could possibly be losing?! Yes, you've got very talented and very respected people singing now but there are so many other people around the world who if people would just listen to them or give them a minute of their time would blow them away with the talent they have. it's something to think about.

Shay

HI darlin. I wanted to say thank you for all your hard work on this matter. You never know what they are gonna do. If anyone is mad at you they can get over it. Like you were the one to pull the plug? And you never know they could just be changing the name and format of the show and will come out with something else next season. Its all a ratings game.

Sandra Valentine

I was hoping that I would get a chance with Nashville Star and it would be the answer to my prayers for me and my 3 year old daughter.

Guess not.

Mistie Warren

I hope that everyone out there are not mad at me, because I had announced the cancelation of Nashville Star. I love the show and I also wanted to audition, that's how I found out. I had been calling and emailing NBC woundering when the auditions were coming out but all I got was bad news. I would be happy to email any of you the message that was sent to me from Peter Naylor NBC's VP. mistie_marie@yahoo.com

Ok whats going on??? I don't want to believe this!! I realy wanted my chance to be the next Nashville Star.. Now what do we do???

Peoples hopes and dreams are being shattered all over the globe including mine. This is supposed to be a once and a lifetime chance for the average Joe to follow their dream and I am one of them! Please reconsider

josie crace

they can't do that my brother and sister finnally got the nerve to try out and they should get a trun. my brother tryied out for the secound season and made it to the top forty. he has improved a great deal. they need to have one more season please.

Patsy Rivera

Hi Mistie,

I'd like to see the email. Can you forward a copy to me patsy.rivera@yahoo.com?

Patsy Rivera

From what I have been told NBC may not run another season of Nashville Star. Complaints on lack of real talent have had NBC rethinking. Rumor has it that is why there haven't been any auditions posted or any information updated on the website, MySpace, Facebook, etc. So right now - who knows. It took me months to talk my boyfriend into auditioning and now I hear it may be canceled. Great!

ryan

I dont understand, why would they post a count down to the premiere on their website? Thanks for the info. Hopefully something might change. :)

SHELLY

WHEN ARE AUDITIONS?!?! I need to book my plane ticket!

Mistie Warren

Im afraid that NBC Universal has cancelled the show! I contacted NBC Universal's Peter Naylor VP on the auditions dates. For several months I didn't recieve a phone call back or an email untill Jan 8,09 and he stated that
"From what I have hurd there will not be another show". I have the email if any of you would like to see it for your self. email me
mistie_marie@yahoo.com

RYAN

Crystal

mattie

HEy guys,
I looked on the NBC website and it shows that in Summer of 2009 they are airing Nashville Star from 9-10 Pm.. So NBC already has there air time schdule set for 2009 for the show. Hopefully the 2009 audition dates will be out soon. :)

Mistie Warren

I have emailed NBC about the crises we are having on this matter and hopefully they will be sending a post to there web site so it can set us at ease. However I did call the radio station and they sill have no idea when they will be coming. Sorry but mabey we should all email NBC and mabey that will help. Mistie

I am 24 years old, and have wanted to sing country music my whole life. For many years I have sing Christian Music as one of the lead singers on our Church worship team. I have waited so long for the time when I could show the world the talent the GOOD LORD has blessed me so much with. The time is now! My husband and I agree and I would love the opportunity to audition for this show. I am a huge fan… please contact me with times and places of 2009 auditions when available.

Tami

I am trying to download information for the 2009 season but none of the site's links are working. Does anyone know why? Is it because the info is not available yet? Please help!

Caroline - The dates in this article are for LAST year's Nashville Star auditions. New dates, times, and places for 2009 haven't been announced yet.

Caroline Osborne

If we want to audition at the open auditions do we need to send in the application online or just show up at the open call? Also...trying to download the approved song list and it will not open. Has anyone had this problem?
Thanks,
Caroline

Sherrie

Did anyone ever locate the short form?

I don't see any mention of a Short Form. Where are you guys seeing this?

Here's what I see for the Nashville Star application process as printed here. And I quote...

How to apply online:
Fill out the Application form below and click "Submit." This will lead you to two PDF documents that your must PRINT OUT:
1. Tape Submission Letter
2. Long Form Application
Follow the directions provided on the Tape Submission Letter and fill out your Long Form Application in full. Mail in your Video and Long Form Application to the address provided on the Tape Submission Letter.

Perhaps the Short Form is simply the brief little bio on that very first page before you hit "submit"? Just a thought.

Robin

I too was wondering where we find the "short form" to audition for Nashville Star. Please Advise.

Thanks

Lisa

I too am looking for information regarding the Los Angeles Auditions. I need to know the time and location of the audition so that I can make hotel reservations near the location. Also, I was unclear on what the Short Form Application was. It is referenced in the Casting Call details, but I cannot find this application anywhere on the site.
Please help!!! Thank you. Lisa

Diana

Have you heard where exactly in Los Angeles, Nashville, and Austin that the Nashville Star auditions are going to be located? On their website it just states "TBA". It would be nice to know ahead of time to make reservations. Any information you may have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Diana :o)
