Following are some up-close-and-personal photographs of Ashley Cleveland, one of my favorite singers and songwriters who happens to live in Nashville.
Girl Power!
This night at the Bluebird was stacked with powerful chic singers (…and Vince Gill). Left to Right: Leslie Satcher, Ashley Cleveland, (Amy Grant and Vince Gill not shown), and Lari White on keyboards.
Ashley’s Such A Jokester
Ashley Cleveland was one of the four chic singers in the lineup this night at the Bluebird. Here, she’s telling another one of her “jokes”…
In-The-Round At The Bluebird Cafe
Girl Power… plus one. Lari White was singing a song in the ’round that everyone really dug.
Ashley’s Rockin’ The House
Ashley Cleveland’s vocals and singing style have been compared to that of Janis Joplin… She rocks!
Fame Don’t Come Easily
Ashley’s famous for switching between a variety of guitars when she does these songwriter nights — usually her hot pink one and her hot teal one. She’s also famous for spending a considerable amount of time telling jokes while she’s “tuning” her guitar. Oh, and she’s famous, too, for having to stand up any time she’s singing. Also famous for singing a lot of “traditional hymns” in these songwriter nights — even in the bars. But it always surprises me that she’s not more “famous” in the mainstream yet!
Ashley Cleveland Is Passion With A Purpose
Of all the singers/songwriters we’ve seen at these “songwriter nights”, Ashley Cleveland takes the cake when it comes to “getting into” the show with 100% of her heart and passion at all times. She rocks the house like none other (…except for Jeffrey Steele). Oh, and she plays at our church all the time!
Ashley At BCC
It’s always a treat whenever Ashley Cleveland leads the music at Bellevue Community Church (BCC). She’s not a member of our church, but she says it’s one of her favorites to play at. She said she usually takes Decembers off to play benefits and churches in the Nashville area, because she likes to give something back to the local community. We especially like the way Ashley puts her special twist on traditional hymns. She’s even got a hymns album due out in February that we can’t wait to snatch up.
We moved from Florida to Tennessee in 2001. All signs point to the fact that we will probably retire here — by choice. We L O V E Nashville! Our favorite places to live are just south of the City — we’ve had houses in Brentwood, Franklin, and Spring Hill. And we have properties in Leipers Fork, Cookeville, and Lewisburg.
