I guess we’ll have to find another Nashville celebrity home to take the lead spot in our informal “Tour of the Stars Homes” that we take friends on when they come visit us in Nashville for the first time.

Sadly, Alan Jackson’s 19,000 square-foot home is now for sale. His house has been the highlight of our tour for many years. (UPDATE: It’s been sold! See details below.)

Asking Price

Alan Jackson and wife Denise have said that they’ve been wanting to downsize, but it wasn’t until recently that they put their house up for sale.

The address for this Alan Jackson house is: 1301 Moran Road in Franklin, Tennessee.

The stonework at the gated entrance to the house says “Sweetbriar” — the name he affectionately gave to his 135-acre property.

The asking price for Alan Jackson’s 6-bedroom, 7-1/2 bathroom house built in 1997 is $38 million.

A Few Random Thoughts…

• The swimming pool is amazing. But I can’t imagine how hard the pool boy has to work to keep the leaves out of that pool!
• The gymnasium is really cool too. Somehow I don’t see that being used very much though.
• Alan’s “car garage” is literally a museum. What a cool collection of Alan Jackson’s favorite things!

Alan Jackson’s Franklin, Tennessee home sold for $28M!

The buyer is a trust in the names of Willis and Reba Johnson. Willis Johnson is the founder and chairman of publicly traded Copart Inc., a Fairfield, Calif. company that auctions off wrecked cars for insurance companies and other institutions. He resigned as CEO of the company in February. Corporate filings indicate Johnson’s 11.4 percent stake in Copart is worth roughly $340 million.

After 17 years in his Sweetbriar home, Alan Jackson moved his family into a smaller home. (Here’s the story.)

In 2010, Alan Jackson said goodbye to Sweetbriar, his 135-acre estate in Franklin, Tenn., which he sold for $28 million. The “Gone Country” singer then moved into a slightly smaller but equally luxurious home in the same Nashville suburb. Perched on top of a hill, the 14,000-square-foot mansion offers panoramic views of the scenic surroundings. The singer and his wife paid $3.675 million for the estate in June 2010, but less than a year later, they’ve listed the home for $3.995 million.
