Shawn Mullins, Chuck Cannon & Mac Davis At The Bluebird Cafe… What A Treat!

We’ve been fortunate to see Shawn Mullins perform numerous times — mostly at very small venues like 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville. He’s definitely one of our all-time favorite artists of all time. He’s just a down-to-earth guy with an incredible voice and amazing guitar skills, and remarkable storytelling abilities.

Last night we got to see Shawn Mullins perform “in the round” at the Bluebird Cafe. What a treat! There’s nothing better than seeing your favorite performers in small settings like such small, intimate places.

Along with Shawn Mullins were Chuck Cannon and Mac Davis. I know… what a group! And we had great seats.

Henpeck Market: A Place To Go For Simply Living Life In Franklin, Tennessee

EDITOR’S NOTE: Unfortunately, Henpeck Market is now closed.  But since it was such a popular place, we’re keeping this article here — so you’ll know what it was like.. and why it was such a popular Franklin establishment.

This is what's left of the original Henpeck Market in 2019 - Franklin, TN.

Here’s the original article…

At the corner of Highway 431 (Lewisburg Pike) and Henpeck Lane sits a sweet Victorian house with a wrap-around porch and a row of gas pumps out in front of it.

Henpeck Market in Franklin, TN during its heyday!

Henpeck Market is one of those establishments I’ve driven by for years but never stopped to see what was inside.  I assumed that, since it was a gas station, there would be a small convenience store inside and nothing more.

Finally, a couple weeks ago while looking for property for some clients, I decided to pull into the parking lot.  It was noon, and there was literally nowhere to park… the place was packed!  So I found an empty space near the road and headed to the front door.

As soon as I walked in, I was surprised to see that it was much more than just a little market!

Don and Jackie Gregory own the place and, yes, there’s a gas station outside and the typical convenience store type merchandise inside — but did you know there is also a café and restaurant?  Oh, and a little gift shop and organic produce section, too?!

Henpeck Market in Franklin, TN has gas in addition to a convenience store, bakery, restaurant, gift shop, and more!

There’s more… soon they’ll even have a post office inside!

Henpeck Lane Offers Lots Of Great Housing Choices

durham-manor-franklin-home-countryside.JPGWho would have thought that living on a street named Henpeck Lane would be such a good thing?

As you drive down the country road, passing fields and farms along the way, you might be surprised by the housing developments that pop up here and there.

Henpeck Lane stretches from Highway 31/Columbia Highway (just a few miles south of where Mack Hatcher Parkway intersects it) over to Highway 431/Lewisburg Pike (just north of Peytonsville Road).

Lined with homes of varying sizes and ages, a few new (or newer) developments are mixed in among them.  Coming from Highway 31, Oakleaf Estates and Oakwood Estates – both established communities with homes on 1-acre lots – are first in sight.

Just past those, you’ll come across open pastures with cows or horses, larger homes on 5-acre or larger tracts, apple trees and lots of wooden farm fencing.  Once again, sights such as these are why I love living in Franklin!
