Well, last weekend was the Franklin Rodeo. My son and I, along with several friends, loaded up the car and headed on over to the Williamson County Agricultural Expo Center last Friday night.
I’m no cowgirl, but I did put my hair up in two pony tails and wore jeans… it was the best I knew how to do.
Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Apprentice) has created yet another Reality TV show. It's called Jingles and they're holding auditions in Nashville at the end of May.
Mark Burnett has reportedly combined elements of The Apprentice and Rock Star to create Jingles, a new CBS reality series that will see contestants concocting commercial ditties for real products ... Home viewer votes cast following each broadcast will then determine a weekly winner, whose jingle will be used in and actual commercial. Source
If you would like to audtion for the show, read on...
I’m so excited about the Franklin Rodeo!
Every year I miss going, but I’m determined to be there this go-around. My 7-½ year old son (Will) is looking forward to it, and his good friend from preschool is coming along as well. He is a cowboy fanatic and has been since I can remember. Will, on the other hand, not so much the cowboy… more like a Star Wars trooper and athlete.
Anyway, festivities will begin this Friday, May 9th, with a party and auction at the Franklin Factory.
If you've been meaning to take a daytrip to nearby Rutherford County to check out some of their great attractions, there's no better day than May 17, 2008!
"Free Day in May" is a fun-filled day of FREE activities that is sponsored by the Rutherford County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Art from all mediums and genres will be displayed on March 20, 2008 from 6 - 10pm at the Factory in Franklin as part of An Ear For The Arts.
V102.5's Ace will host the evening with music by Serenatta the romantic Latin ensemble.
A special performance by the African Cultural Arts Center Drum and Dance Troup is also on the schedule.
You may have heard that Nashville Star is moving from USA Network to NBC for 2008. Yep, primetime on cable, baby!
This year, the competition is open to singing duos and trios. Auditions are open to anyone 16 and older. Nashville Star casting calls are held rain or shine.

Here's the scoop on the upcoming casting call in Nashville, TN...
I can't tell you how many times we've passed through downtown Franklin only to find some big event going on that we didn't even have a clue about.
It's kind of our own fault, because we don't subscribe to the local newspaper. And that "free paper" that arrives... on occasion... well, we don't usually get around to reading it until a week or so later. By then, any events advertised have already taken place.
But I'm still surprised that there isn't more advertising and signage in the weeks leading up to events around here -- especially the bigger ones. We've lived here (just a hop, skip & a jump away from historic downtown Franklin) for 6 years now, and I don't think we've ever received a flier in the mail or a postcard reminder about events taking place in Franklin.
I realize it's a small town, and word of mouth is probably what this town is used to in terms of getting the word out about major events. But in every other community we've lived in, we got postcards & fliers in the mail to remind us of major events. You know... the kind that of notices that you can then stick on the fridge, so you don't forget!
Tis the season for checking out Franklin, Tennessee's holiday light displays.
One interesting way to see all of the Christmas lights is to hop on the Franklin Trolley and let them chauffeur you through the town to gaze at all of the glittering decorations.
Got an email the other day from a visitor to this site. It read:
Just wanted to invite you to the HOTTEST reality show in Nashville TN August 18 at 8:00pm. We will have 5 more artists competing for prizes and you can be the judge. That's right the audience chooses the winner. We will have some great entertainment and it is all FREE. Come cheer for you favorite performer."

...You might want to add this to your list of fun things to do this weekend!
I received the following email from Debby Rainey today about a March 30th event that Franklin residents might be interested in.
Well here's a fun event that you don't hear about every day...
It's called Flugtag.
What's Flugtag, you ask?
Flugtag is an extraordinary flying contest that's sponsored by Red Bull and takes place in Nashville this summer.
Red Bull calls it "the quest for human-powered flight".
It's definitely a one-of-a-kind event not to be missed!

You can sign up to participate (must register by April 16th) or just come out and watch (on June 23rd).
Here are the details...
Well, I don't know what I was thinking...
Of course Franklin Tennesse has FREE movies in the park!
...and FREE concerts in the park!
...and even FREE movies at the theater!
Here's the scoop:
Got an e-mail from Damien Horne (aka Mista D of Muzik Mafia) and Liz Carden who are putting together a choir of 30-50 singers for a special performance at the CMT Awards Show on April 10, 2006.
The show will take place at The Curb Event Center at Belmont University in Nashville.
If you're interested, here are the details...
Whew, it sure is hot outside! But, SOME are preparing for Christmas already!
No, not us... (See why here and here.)
Believe it or not, they're already gearing up for Christmas at the Opryland Hotel.
That's right, they've started stringing the 2 million lights that decorate the Opryland Hotel and its property.
Who knew that it took 4 months to hang all those lights? (...Lights that bring tourists from millions of miles away to Music City USA just to view them.)
