Shawn Mullins, Chuck Cannon & Mac Davis At The Bluebird Cafe… What A Treat!

We've been fortunate to see Shawn Mullins perform numerous times -- mostly at very small venues like 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville. He's definitely one of our all-time favorite artists of all time. He's just a down-to-earth guy with an incredible voice and amazing guitar skills, and remarkable storytelling abilities. Last night we got to see Shawn Mullins perform "in the round" at the Bluebird Cafe. What a treat! There's nothing better than seeing your favorite performers in small … [Read more...]

Nashville Stars At The Bluebird Cafe

Sometimes we go watch Nashville Star as it's being filmed for TV here in Nashville. Beyond, that I only seem to catch bits & pieces of Nashville Star on TV each year. As a result, I usually don't remember anyone but the final few contestants. Such was the case this past season. So I was pleasantly surprised to find 2 former Nashville Star contestants at the Bluebird the other night. Plus, two other up & comers in the music industry. We met some friends (who were visiting from … [Read more...]

How To Get Bluebird Cafe Reservations & Some Things To Know Before You Go

To date, we've been to the Bluebird more times than we can count. We are members of their "frequent visitor club". (For example, we used our "special privileges" once to score front row seats for Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Ashley Cleveland, Lari White, and Leslie Satcher on 11/13/2004.) Open since June of 1982, The Bluebird Cafe features songwriters and acoustic music 7 nights a week, providing a stage for both the newest songwriters in town to play as well as for Nashville's … [Read more...]

Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe… What It’s Like

Our first time going to the Bluebird Cafe was July 19, 2001. We were brand spankin' new to Nashville and the Bluebird Cafe was a great first experience. On a whim, we thought we'd check out the 6pm FREE show -- because a "friend of a friend" was supposed to be performing there. When we arrived, there weren't any tables left, so we accepted their "best available" seats... at the bar. (This would not be the last time we would find ourselves seated atop tall barstools in the … [Read more...]

The Listening Room Cafe Is Franklin Tennessee’s Newest Live Music Venue

There's been a lot of change in downtown Franklin, TN lately. It seems like ever since Gray's Drug Store closed up shop a couple of years ago, we've seen a fair amount of turnover among the storefronts lining downtown Franklin. I guess we can blame it partly on the high rent, and partly on Franklin's unique demographic... among a whole host of other factors I'm sure. But thankfully, when one business leaves, another one comes in its place. The latest buzz in Franklin these days is … [Read more...]

Lari White Takes Johnny Cash’s Songs To Broadway

Singer-songwriter, Lari White, from Nashville has taken Johnny Cash's songs to the Broadway stage as part of a new Musical Review called Ring of Fire. That's not all Lari's been up to these days... She recently produced Toby Keith's latest album: White Trash With Money, as well. … [Read more...]

Johnny Reid: Born To ROCK …and Roll!

For some reason, you can't find Johnny Reid's Born To Roll CDs here in the States yet. But we got our hands on his latest album "Born To Roll" last week... and I haven't taken it out of the CD player since! Interesting Sidenote: Johnny told us that they cut this album (right here in Nashville) with the intention of leaving most of it a little "raw" and "rough around the edges" -- as opposed to well-polished and fine-tuned with a lot of studio work. ...which probably explains how they … [Read more...]

In The Round With Dylan, Turk, Morry, Johnny… and Franky

After a quick bite to eat at Baja Burrito in Green Hills (...blech! Americanized Mexican with absolutely NO flavor), last night we went to the Bluebird Cafe for yet another evening "in the round" with some up-and-coming songwriters. Tonight's line-up included: Dylan Altman (has a few hits on the radio with Trace Adkins and Tim McGraw) Sean "Turk" McNamara (an Irish Pub "regular" kinda guy) Morry Trent (more of a songwriter than a singer, but every word comes straight from the … [Read more...]
