American Pickers Mike Wolfe’s Antique Archaeology Store In Nashville

The History Channel has made “picking” famous. What is picking you ask? Picking in its very essence is finding treasures via other people’s trash.

Two people have made antique picking an American pastime: Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz. Through their show on the History Channel, American Pickers, the world was introduced (or re-introduced) to picking.

Mike and Frank, with the help of their assistant Danielle, travel all over the United States in great anticipation of finding treasures by sifting through people’s trash, which includes a lot of stored — even hoarded — stuff. They will go to great lengths to find the treasures, and then haggle over the price. It’s really entertaining to watch and their knowledge about antiques is very impressive.

One of the American Pickers, Mike Wolfe, has opened two U.S.-based stores to share his finds with the world:

One is in his home state of Iowa.
The other is right here in downtown Nashville.

Both are called Antique Archaeology.

I have no plans of traveling to Iowa anytime soon, but Nashville… well that’s in my backyard!

Sopapilla’s Franklin TN: New Mexican Cuisine At Its Best!

Sopapillas is a New Mexican restaurant in Franklin, Tennessee that somehow slipped past my radar until today.

They’ve been open for almost 3 years — at the corner of Franklin Road and Moore’s Lane. The owner is Steve Dale (the bass guitarist for Little Big Town), who “brings to the south a taste of what he grew up on in New Mexico and Arizona.”

Hubby and I have driven past Sopapilla’s (and a handful of other restaurants in that shopping center) numerous times saying, “We should stop in there some day and see what those restaurants are like.”

Well today was the day. We went to Sopapilla’s for lunch. And if I had my way, we’d go back there for dinner tonight. It was that good!

Looking For Seafood In Franklin, TN? My Family’s Review Of Bonefish Grill

I’m originally from Florida, where finding an excellent seafood restaurant is like finding an awesome honky tonk bar in downtown Nashville. They are literally everywhere. If you reverse the scenario, Florida is not known for its honky tonk bars. Nor is Tennessee known for its seafood restaurants.

What has made it challenging is this: I have a seafood-loving family landlocked in Middle Tennessee.

I’m not saying there aren’t any seafood restaurants here, I’m just saying that they are few and far between. (Plus I have high Florida standards.)

My relatives from Florida have been raving about their favorite seafood joint: Bonefish Grill.

Wouldn’t you know it… we have a Bonefish Grill in Franklin!

So now it’s just a short car ride for us to enjoy seafood, compared to driving all the way to Florida.

Did you know that we have a city right here in Tennessee named after Benjamin Franklin?

I’m talking about the city of Franklin. It was founded on October 26, 1779.

It’s also the location of one of the Civil War’s bloodiest battles. The Civil War ravaged Franklin Tennessee economically, and it took 120 years for it to bounce back.

Today, Franklin is one of the wealthiest cities in the United States (per the 2010 Census). It is a blend of southern hospitality and big city charm.

A great way to explore this trendy city is to take a tour.

Nashville Skatepark Review: Two Rivers Skate Park

You can’t always skateboard outside in Nashville (anywhere really), but there are several months out of the year that are perfectly ideal for it.

When that’s the case, grab your skateboard, BMX bike, or inline skates and head over to Two Rivers Skatepark!

This park is FREE, it’s big, and it has some awesome features sure to keep any skater or biker busy for hours.

Much like Alan Jackson’s home, I can’t count the number of times I’ve been to George Jones’ house.

Like thousands of others, we visited the home of George and Nancy Jones during the Christmas holidays each year. Their Christmas light display was truly amazing.

And if friends were in town, we made a point to take them as well. It was one of the highlights on our holiday lights tour around Nashville.

George Jones recently put his Williamson County home up for sale (4025 Nestledown Drive, Franklin, TN 37067).

Franklin Tennessee Dog Park Review: The K9 Korral At Harlinsdale Park

We already have a favorite dog park in Franklin… it’s Maggie’s Bark Park.

Our second favorite is Warner Dog Park.

But still, I was incredibly excited when I heard there was another new dog park in town!

It’s called the K9 Korral Dog Park at Harlinsdale Farm.

So the dog and I both jumped in the Jeep and we went to check it out…

First Impressions

I can’t count the number of times I’ve passed by Harlinsdale Farm on Franklin Road, yet I never stopped to see what all the park has to offer… until now.

So this was a win-win for me: I got to explore the K9 Korral Dog Park and visit Harlinsdale Farm for the first time.
