Day Trips
If you've been meaning to take a daytrip to nearby Rutherford County to check out some of their great attractions, there's no better day than May 17, 2008!
"Free Day in May" is a fun-filled day of FREE activities that is sponsored by the Rutherford County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The Hi-Way 50 Drive-In in Lewisburg, Tennessee is a single screen drive in theater that first opened in 1946.
Jim and I went for the first time last night.
We saw Spiderman 3 and Vacancy.
A double feature for just $6.00 per person... ya gotta love that!

If you're from around here, then you may have heard that the Hi-Way 50 Drive-In experienced a fire in the Control Room and the Concession Stand in March of 2007. For awhile, the owners, Gary & June Douglas, were unsure as to whether they would be able to show movies at the Hiway 50 Drive In anymore. Fortunately, thanks to donations and their ability to repair or replace much of their equipment, they were able to reopen in a matter of weeks.
If you're in the Franklin/Nashville area, I'd encourage you to take one of these walking tours. Some are conducted year-round. Others take place only around the Halloween season.
...See how scared you get as part of a small group of people walking the streets at night while hearing about dozens of "well-documented" stories about local ghosts & hauntings!
If you're looking for a LIST of haunted places in Nashville -- and other parts of Tennessee -- then check this out...
We love exploring all there is to see & do in the Gatlinburg area.
Actually, I'm referring to those areas surrounding Gatlinburg more than the actual town of Gatlinburg itself.
Why? Because the town itself is so touristy -- with all the souvenir shops and fun things to do downtown -- that it gets pretty hectic and congested.
That's why we typically hang out somewhere between Townsend (to the west), Cosby (to the east) and Bryson City (to the south).
We went to the Fainting Goat Festival in Lewisburg, Tennessee a couple years ago. Surprisingly, we didn't see many goats actually fainting there though.
The reason?...
It was set up more like a petting zoo, and there were signs posted everywhere like: "Shhh...do not startle the goats!"
With the 3nd Annual Fainting Goat Festival approaching (October 7th & 8th), I took some time to learn more about the unique qualities of Fainting Goats.
For those who live in Tennessee (like us), here are all the drive-in movie theaters I could find in the state of Tennessee:
