Sopapilla’s Franklin TN: New Mexican Cuisine At Its Best!

sopapillas-franklin-tn

Sopapillas is a New Mexican restaurant in Franklin, Tennessee that somehow slipped past my radar until today. They've been open for almost 3 years -- at the corner of Franklin Road and Moore's Lane. The owner is Steve Dale (the bass guitarist for Little Big Town), who "brings to the south a taste of what he grew up on in New Mexico and Arizona." Hubby and I have driven past Sopapilla's (and a handful of other restaurants in that shopping center) numerous times saying, "We should stop in … [Read more...]

Looking For Seafood In Franklin, TN? My Family’s Review Of Bonefish Grill

bang-bang-shrimp-bonefish-grill

I'm originally from Florida, where finding an excellent seafood restaurant is like finding an awesome honky tonk bar in downtown Nashville. They are literally everywhere. If you reverse the scenario, Florida is not known for its honky tonk bars. Nor is Tennessee known for its seafood restaurants. What has made it challenging is this: I have a seafood-loving family landlocked in Middle Tennessee. I'm not saying there aren't any seafood restaurants here, I'm just saying that they are few … [Read more...]

Review Of Historic Franklin, Tennessee Walking Tours: Our Franklin On Foot Food Tour

Downtown_Franklin

Did you know that we have a city right here in Tennessee named after Benjamin Franklin? I'm talking about the city of Franklin. It was founded on October 26, 1779. It's also the location of one of the Civil War's bloodiest battles. The Civil War ravaged Franklin Tennessee economically, and it took 120 years for it to bounce back. Today, Franklin is one of the wealthiest cities in the United States (per the 2010 Census). It is a blend of southern hospitality and big city charm. A … [Read more...]

Pancake Pantry Nashville: Add It To Your Bucket List!

pancake-pantry-line.jpg

Soon after we moved to Nashville in 2001, Jim made a point to take me to one of Nashville's most popular places for breakfast: the Pancake Pantry! He had lived in Nashville before, and he also took a lot of business trips here with his previous jobs, so Jim was very familiar with this historic restaurant. One way he enticed me to go was by telling me about all of the Nashville celebrities who dine there. Most recently, Jim took clients to the Pancake Pantry for breakfast and they … [Read more...]

Downtown Nashville’s Broadway Brewhouse & Mojo Grill: A Family Review

broadway-brewhouse-downtown-nashville

I finally got my best friend and her family to come to Nashville for a visit. (They had never been to Middle Tennessee before!)  It was an exciting weekend for us. We wanted to show them around downtown Nashville, and have an excellent meal in the process. If it were my first time in downtown Nashville, I would have wanted to walk Broadway street. It is the epitome of downtown Nashville! I also wanted a delicious meal that my friends would soon NOT forget. I have eaten at a few … [Read more...]

Mangia Nashville: This Family-Style Italian Restaurant Is One Of The Best-Kept Secrets In Franklin, TN

nick-pellegrino-mangia-nashville

We went to Mangia Nashville for the first time last weekend. It's an Italian restaurant that came highly recommended by a friend of ours. He had the time of his life there a couple months earlier when friends invited him to a surprise birthday party there. He has been back twice since then. Based on his experience and our experience and the reviews I've seen from others -- adult birthday parties are a popular occurrence at Mangia Nashville. But we weren't celebrating any birthdays when … [Read more...]

Thai Restaurant Review: Jasmine Thai Cuisine In Cool Springs

Cashew_Chicken

I love Thai food but I refuse to just open up the Yellow Pages and blindly pick a restaurant -- since I've never had Thai food in Tennessee before! I decided to ask some of my friends who have lived in Nashville for quite awhile (and know all the best places to eat) where I could go for awesome Thai food. Jasmine Thai in Cool Springs (technically, Brentwood) came highly recommended. I made my plans, picked some dining mates, and headed -- rather quickly -- to Coolsprings!   … [Read more...]

A Review Of The Nashville Farmers’ Market

Here's my review of the Nashville Farmers Market. photo by Jenn at TheFunTimesGuide.com

I've been wanting to visit the Nashville Farmers' Market for quite some time now. It's been on my list of things to do in Nashville. I'm so glad I finally got that chance! This is also my first time ever to a farmers market, so I really didn't know what to expect. The Nashville Farmers' Market is very easy to find. (Lucky for this directionally challenged girl!) There is plenty of FREE parking as well. What I didn't know about this particular farmers market is that it has 2 … [Read more...]

Firehouse Subs In Nashville: More Than Just A Sub Sandwich Restaurant

My son enjoys eating from the kids menu at Firehouse Subs in Nashville. photo by Jenn at TheFunTimesGuide.com

If you haven't eaten at a Firehouse Subs yet, then run -- don't walk -- to the nearest location! I know what you're thinking: "Not another sub shop." But this is no ordinary, run of the mill sub shop. This is Firehouse Subs.   What Makes Firehouse Subs Unique? In addition to its interesting history and remarkable community service efforts (mentioned below), the first thing that makes Firehouse Subs so unique is the ambiance. It speaks of patriotism and heroism. Each … [Read more...]

Date Night In Nashville: A Review Of The Melting Pot Fondue Restaurant

nashville-melting-pot

Looking for a romantic evening that includes delicious food (some of which you cook yourself) and a unique atmosphere? The Melting Pot in Nashville is just that place! What exactly is fondue and where did it originate, you ask? Well, the word fondue originated from the French verb fondre, which means “to melt”. The act of fondue originated in Switzerland during the 18th century. Peasants took stale cheese and melted it in a communal pot. Then they took hard bread, dipped it into the … [Read more...]
