May 2008 Archives
Well, last weekend was the Franklin Rodeo. My son and I, along with several friends, loaded up the car and headed on over to the Williamson County Agricultural Expo Center last Friday night.
I’m no cowgirl, but I did put my hair up in two pony tails and wore jeans… it was the best I knew how to do.
I'll be watching Nashville Star 6 this season. But, oddly enough, I think I'm more interested in seeing the judges than some of the performers themselves!
I'm diggin' the fact that Jeffrey Steele is a judge. Finally... more Jeffrey Steele in the limelight!
You see, Jim and I have been following Jeff Steele for what seems like ages now, and we still can't get enough. He's a shining star in the Country Music industry. He's right up there with Craig Wiseman in our book -- as far as songwriters go anyways.
Okay, I'll just say it... If I had my way, I'd see to it that The Hitmen of Music Row produce, judge, promote, star in, and otherwise have their hands in just about anything that's Country Music related these days! All of these guys are among the top hit-makers in the biz. And they know how it works from the entry-level songwriting trials & tribulations to the mega-hits that can result. Best of all... they keep things FUN!
Now onto the other judges...
At least a half-dozen times a week I pass Aspen Grove Park. You know, that park near the corner of Aspen Grove and Seabord Lane... across from Parkside townhomes at Aspen Grove???
Yeah, it's there and it's absolutely worth stopping!
Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Apprentice) has created yet another Reality TV show. It's called Jingles and they're holding auditions in Nashville at the end of May.
Mark Burnett has reportedly combined elements of The Apprentice and Rock Star to create Jingles, a new CBS reality series that will see contestants concocting commercial ditties for real products ... Home viewer votes cast following each broadcast will then determine a weekly winner, whose jingle will be used in and actual commercial. Source

I’m so excited about the Franklin Rodeo!
Every year I miss going, but I’m determined to be there this go-around. My 7-½ year old son (Will) is looking forward to it, and his good friend from preschool is coming along as well. He is a cowboy fanatic and has been since I can remember. Will, on the other hand, not so much the cowboy… more like a Star Wars trooper and athlete.
Anyway, festivities will begin this Friday, May 9th, with a party and auction at the Franklin Factory.
Be a part of history!
Did you realize that Franklin is the only town in Tennessee that has been authorized to create its own license plate? I think that is so cool!
I remember several months ago, or maybe even last year sometime, they sent out several options for residents to vote on. So, not only do we have our own plate, we actually chose the design, too!
We've been utilizing a door-to-door drycleaning service for years now.
When we first signed up for it, we were both working outside of the home and we had a lot of professional business attire that needed frequent drycleaning.
These days, we only dry clean a few items each month. But we decided to keep utilizing the pickup and delivery service provided by Clean Threads anyway.
