Best Philly Cheesesteak In Town: Penn Station vs Fat Mo's

| Comments (0)

Penn Station is in the Bellevue area. While it's not all that close to Franklin, we've always felt it was worth the drive just to enjoy their Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches.

...That is, until we discovered Fat Mo's right here in Franklin and we discovered that their Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches are pretty good, too!

The Hi-Way 50 Drive-In in Lewisburg, Tennessee is a single screen drive in theater that first opened in 1946.

We saw Spiderman 3 and Vacancy.

A double feature for just $6.00 per person... ya gotta love that!

If you're from around here, then you may have heard that the Hi-Way 50 Drive-In experienced a fire in the Control Room and the Concession Stand in March of 2007. For awhile, the owners, Gary & June Douglas, were unsure as to whether they would be able to show movies at the Hiway 50 Drive In anymore. Fortunately, thanks to donations and their ability to repair or replace much of their equipment, they were able to reopen in a matter of weeks.

Stop Littering In Tennessee... How To Report People Who Litter

| Comments (0)
48% of Tennesseans polled say that they have knowingly thrown trash on the street. 1 in 5 say they do this on a regular basis."

The Keep Tennessee Beautiful group and Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) recently launched StopLitter -- a new Tennessee Litter Prevention Campaign to provide education and awareness to Tennesseans.

Why Should You Care About Litter? Let Us Count The Ways:

$11,000,000. Yes, you read those zeros right. That's $11 million tax payer dollars our state spends picking up the trash Tennesseans throw down on the ground. That doesn't even count what your city pays to pick up litter in the incorporated areas.

12,000,000 miles are driven each year picking up litter in our state. Think about all the gas that is needed to fuel trucks for litter pick up.

18% of all littered items end up in our streams and waterways as pollution. That means litter in our state travels to other states and eventually ends up in the ocean.

A $1500 fine and 6 months of litter duty. That's what a second conviction for littering can land you. A first conviction in Tennessee will cost you $500 and 40 hours of community service picking up litter.

Got an email the other day from Dana French about her new business in downtown Franklin called Ridmart.com.

I've seen their sign downtown, but haven't utilized their services yet.

Nashville Is The New LA

nashville-is-the-new-la-tshirt-green2.jpg Jim and I went to see Shawn Mullins at 3rd & Lindsley this past weekend.

While there, we saw a guy wearing a T-shirt that said, "Nashville is the new L.A."

I've seen (or heard) this phrase a few times before, but I had no idea it was such a big thing... especially around here. (I guess we don't get out much.)

Now you can get your own "Nashville is the new LA" T-shirt!...

Inside Scoop: New Williamson County Park Near The Natchez Trace Parkway

| Comments (0)

I travel up and down the Natchez Trace Parkway a lot. (Talk about a cheap form of therapy!)

A few weeks ago I noticed a couple of flagmen and some bulldozers caught up in a bustle of activity on the Trace, near the Highway 96 Exit.

A couple days later, I noticed lots of trees missing, and some freshly laid gravel -- as if, in parking lot fashion. This was all taking place just off the road (on the righthand side, heading South on the Trace), so it's obvious that something new is going to appear there very soon.

I got the scoop!...
