How I Spent My Summer Vacation

Can you see the sunset reflected in my sunglasses?... It's a sign of things to come. CLICK to see a larger version!

We’re so busy these days, that we often try to combine “vacation” time with scheduled business trips.

That’s how it went last month when we followed a weekend at the racetrack (the work part) with a couple days at the beach (the fun part)…

Dan Finnerty And The Dan Band

Dan Finnerty and The Dan Band CD.When it comes to TV, I’m a channel surfer.

The other night it was late when I happened upon “Dan Finnerty and the Dan Band” on the BRAVO channel.

I’d never heard of him, or his band, but his backup singers (a couple of Max Headroom type personalities) really caught my attention. They were so dead-pan with their expressions, at the same time highly expressive with their movements. Very captivating. And incredibly hilarious.

These 2 were meant to be funny, as they make up “the Dan Band” part of “Dan Finnerty and the Dan Band“.

Pat Green: Country Music’s Party Animal

I just read an article about Pat Green, in which he talked about his very spontaneous lifestyle, his party attitude, and his ability to keep it all in check for his family and his future. I applaud Pat Green for…

The Fair Was Fair…

Williamson County Fair logo - Franklin, Tennessee. You may recall, that we were eager to attend the Williamson County Fair.

In fact, it was the first to be held in this county in over 50 years.(…Perhaps now we know why!)

Johnny Reid: Born To ROCK …and Roll!

Johnny Reid's 'Born to Roll'. For some reason, you can’t find Johnny Reid‘s Born To Roll CDs here in the States yet.

But we got our hands on his latest album “Born To Roll” last week… and I haven’t taken it out of the CD player since!

Interesting Sidenote: Johnny told us that they cut this album (right here in Nashville) with the intention of leaving most of it a little “raw” and “rough around the edges” — as opposed to well-polished and fine-tuned with a lot of studio work.

…which probably explains how they were able to cut this entire album in just one day!

The bonus for listeners is that we get to hear a lot more of Johnny’s “real” voice throughout the entire album, including those passion-filled long notes that he’s so well-known for, plus all the rock-your-a#! screamin-out-loud chords that literally take your breath away.

I, for one, happen to love the raw stuff. But we’re not talkin purely acoustical one-man/one-guitar kind of stuff here. Oh no, this is strong… it ROCKS! Even the ballads raise the roof.

From the backup vocals to the myriad of instruments used on this album, it all comes together perfectly to create a sound that’s 100% Johnny Reid.

Now onto the songs…
