What Others Think Of Nashville...

Prompted by the Nashville Scene's annual You Are So Nashville If... series, I set out to see how others (namely, tourists) view Nashville these days.

I'm always interested to hear what others have to say about Nashville when they come to visit.

I can't help but think there are a number of stereotypes out there which just don't do the city justice, and it's not until you've actually BEEN here that you realize, Nashville's a pretty cool place to be!

Perhaps the most common stereotype:

"Nashville is filled with rednecks who wear cowboy hats and cowboy boots and Wranglers everywhere they go. Oh, and they talk funny too!"

Plus, since Nashville's been dubbed Music City USA and has a long-standing reputation as the Country Music Capitol of the World, many people think everything is pure Country 24/7 around here and that honky tonks are the only places to have a good time.

That couldn't be farther from the truth.

Fortunately, some have taken the time to write about their experiences and set the record straight with regard to all there is to see and do in Nashville Tennessee.

What I Learned Today...

For 2006, the Miss America Pageant is moving to Nashville. Yep, CMT will be featuring this beauty and bombshell pageant for the first time ever... meaning we're likely to see more "Daisy Dukes" and less "one-piece swimsuits"! Not everyone's happy about it; while others are having a field day with it!

I've been to Nashville, TN many times because my boyfriend lives there. I have to say, you guys live up to every stereotype we Northerners have about you (except about the cowboy hats). I am Asian American and my boyfriend is Caucasian. I've seen the disapproving looks on your faces when I am with my boyfriend. I dress normally and look normal, yet I get pointed at and stared at when I'm in Tennessee.

I've also noted that even though you guys live in the Bible Belt, there seems to be alot of infidelity in your marriages and sleeping around with best friends' spouses and with co-workers.

My boyfriend's life actually should be on the Jerry Springer show because he just found out his ex-wife who cheated on him and is now remarried is in porn!
